JOIN OHAO TODAY
Sunday December 17, 2017

Save the date for the Spring PDC/Symposium/AGM - March 21 and 22, 2018.

The new Board of Directors and Committees have been busy the last few months! The Board and the Website Committee continue to work on OHAO’s new website incorporating our new logo. We are in the final stages of proof reading and verification. The goal is to give the website an updated look, and to improve functionality for members and the non-member community. It should make finding information and registering for events easier. The new and improved website will be revealed in the Fall. Once it’s live, please share with all of your colleagues.

Preparations for the Fall Symposium and PDC are also well underway! As always if you have an idea for a speaker or topic please do not hesitate to contact the members of the Program Committee (Symposium) and/or the Public Affairs and Education Committee. Save the date for October 18 and 19, 2017. Details and registration will be available after the summer holidays.

At the last Board meeting we reviewed the Strategic Plan that was started by past president Nancy Wilk. We re-affirmed our commitment to a few items and updated a few others. This year one of our initiatives will be to focus on increasing membership. We have had a slight decline in the past year. We have several ideas in mind for a membership drive including future events OHAO can participate in. If you have any good ideas please feel free to contact myself or anyone on the Board. We would love to hear from the membership. If you have a colleague that is not yet a member ask them to join us! Word of mouth is always the most effective way of increasing membership. We will also be conducting a membership survey in the near future, so watch for this in your inbox.

Part of OHAO’s mission includes fostering communication and networking among health and safety professionals. We have been successful with our regional meetings in the past in reaching out to those members and colleagues that are not in the Greater Toronto Area. This year a new committee, the Regional Meeting Committee, was formed. Their goal will be to organize at least two regional meetings per year in different parts of Ontario. If you have an interest in hosting a regional meeting please let the committee chair Altaira Hildebrand, know. OHAO is committed to continuing to reach out to members and other professionals across Ontario.

Have a lovely summer everyone! Stay safe.
